hi y'all, wanted to make an intro post and show a couple builds. i live in the Netherlands and have gotten into converting bikes here. i have used these forums as reference a bit but i wanted to make an account so i can actually contribute some. i hope y'all find these builds interesting as they are a bit different than what i have seen on these forums so far.
this first one is an azor tweelingfiets.
- 750w bbs02
- 8 speed shimano nexus igh
- inter m rollerbrakes
- 25Ah 48v battery in a custom 3d printed case
- eggrider display
- big ben plus 2.25" rear tire
- energizer plus 2.00" front tire
this is a makeshift cargo bike i built primarily to take passengers around on. in the summertime we can get to the beach on it as the 25Ah battery easily does 70-100km of range. i've since changed the seat on it to one made for mopeds and now it is a super comfy ride for both the driver and the passenger.
the next build is a cumberland transportfiets:
- 250w tsdz2
- 3 speed shimano nexus igh
- rear coster brake only
- 7Ah 36V battery
- energizer plus 2.00" tires
- kmc z1ehx wide chain
- hebie chainglider
this bike is a jammy little thing for getting around town. next to no maintenance, quiet and quick. i ran the display cable through the frame and soldered it on at the motor for a nice streamlined look. i even left off the speed sensor as in my opinion they are not super important on torque sensing builds.
Leuk, lekker mooie! I'm guessing that the modifications (done by the egg rider?) to the Bafang bbs02 to accommodate the Nexus 8 hub have worked well? I use a Nexus 8 e-bike version of that Shimano hub with a 750 watt Tong-Sheng mid-drive figuring that a Bafang would never work / grind the hub to dust. That with a Tongsheng I can start out gentle after shifting, and with a Tongsheng it isn't "all or nothing" like a Bafang starting up. But you seem to have it figured out. SO COOL. 😎! And, yeah the Tongsheng is more work to peddle, but some days I want the exercise. My other two bikes are Bafangs, and they're great fun. Thanks for the great post! Doe goedjes! Dag!

I have the BBSO2 on my mtb also, but I am considering the Tongshen for a future build. I see that the bikes are quite different from each other but would you care to compare the riding experience between the torque sensing and the cadence? Have you modified the software on either? I have heard that there is quite a community of techie engineers who are experimenting and writing code for the TZ.
