Looking to build a bike because I can’t find what I’m looking for off the rack without it costing as much as a car. I live in Northern New England, I weigh 220, I want it for hunting and fishing in the remote back country with logging roads, atv trails, mountains etc.(fat tire? No/front/full suspension?) ideally with a honest range of over 30 miles would be desire. Maybe pull a cart with the gear or the days hunt? Was thinking dual batteries. YouTube has me spinning in circles with the information but thought it best to come to the experts.
thank you in advance for any guidance and please be kind to the new guy.
If your back woods i would go with the BBSHD and a 52V battery which is stronger & faster than a 48 you can get a 52v - 24 amp HR on Amazon for $478
How did this work out? Same interests and needs here.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, I actually opted for one of his 20 minute consults for tonight so I’m hoping he can give me the answers and to be honest for the price he charges to put it all together I think I might be foolish to try and do it myself.
So figure out your terrain use case. For off road more rough mountain trails youll want a mountain bike (narrower tires) , for more roadway commuting, smooth trails, you can go with a fat tire bike if you want (I like narrow for more agility on trails). Hardtails are recommended for ebike conversions (bikes with only front suspension) . Battery check out a 52v 17.5 Ah, should get you a good range of 30-40 miles. Just check out Johhnys many videos for ideas, he has a ton of bikes converted, surely one that fits your use case.
