QS MOTOR 138 90h 4000w mid drive V3
This is for motorcycle application only. Will not fit a bicycle frame. This motor can handle much more power than 4000w, that is just a nominal rating.
This motor is recommended to advanced builders only who have extensive build experience and can fabricate adapters and mounts when needed.
This is for the motor only unless a controller is selected, which we highly recommend unless you already have one.
Controller:
This is the brains of your system. Some controllers are easier than others to program/ tune and some have options such as display support (UKC1 or similar).
-Sabvoton controllers:
A tried and True Workhorse. known for reliability and smooth throttle response. Great for riders who want solid performance without overcomplicating tuning. Simple programming with a Bluetooth dongle via the MQCON app. Perfect for commuters or first time converters. Offers support for regenerative braking as well as supports the Color Display UKC1.
*simple, reliable, proven
-Votol Controllers:
Delivers strong acceleration and good midrange torque. Often paired with QS motors. App-based tuning makes it easier to adjust settings on the fly compared to older controllers. Good balance of performance and affordability.
*middle ground, good features + easy app
-Fardriver Controllers:
High-Performance option with advanced tuning and regen features. Handles higher Phase currents, which means more torque off the ine. Great for people who want to push their build harder, experiment with regen braking, and customize power delivery.
*performance enthusiast
-VESC-Based Controllers:
The most flexible, open-source style controller. Fully customizable with Powerful software tools and data logging. Ideal for tinkerers and advanced builders who want complete control over throttle curves, regen, torque maps, and motor tuning. higher learning curve, but unmatched versatility.
*DIY hacker/tuner who loves customization.
SPROCKET:
A smaller sized sprocket will get you more torque/ acceleration but limit your top speed. A bigger (higher tooth count) sprocket will get you a higher top speed at the sacrifice of torque.
Make sure you get the correct chain as well eg: 428 chain, 520 chain etc.
THROTTLE:
-Full twist grip is what is found on motorcycles. The entire grip will "twist" when you twist it.
-Half twist grip means only the inner half of the grip will twist while the outer half is stationary like a bicycle grip. If you want the the throttle to have regen function when you twist it the opposite direction, this is the only current option.
-Cable throttle adapter transforms your current cable actuated throttle coming from the gas style throttle into an electric signal. Use this if you want to keep a bike looking completely stock or if you want to use your existing throttle.
BATTERY:
72v is pretty much the norm for a standard Motorcycle conversion. Running 72v 150a is 10,800 watts or just under 15hp. Good to push a 300lb motorcycle 60-70 mph. If you want higher speeds, consider playing around with your gearing or upping your voltage to 96v, 120v or 144v.
DC to DC converter:
This is if you plan on running any 12v system off your bike, like lighting etc. we recommend getting a 20a converter as a 10a may not enough muscle to power a full light kit and any anything extra.
Contactor:
A contactor is like a heavy duty switch that safely connects and disconnects your battery pack. High-Voltage batteries store a lot of energy, and if they're connected, it can cause sparks, damage parts, or even create fire risks. A contactor makes sure your system turns on smoothly, protects your wiring and components, and gives you a safe way to shut everything off when you're not riding or need to work on the bike.
Make sure you get a contactor that is rated for the amperage and voltage of your system. If that intimidates you, don't let it. It's a circuit breaker essentially that will trip if more current than your controller can handle gets sent ( like something shorts out) and stops the flow of energy. These range from about $60-360 depending a build quality. Don't get the $30 Amazon one here!
