I'm trying to predict how much faster my commute will be on a mid-drive conversion instead of my current Rad Rover Fat e-bike. I'd like to convert one of my road bikes (rim brakes) or get a used gravel bike with disc brakes. I'm hoping having a better idea of the likely speeds can help me decide how much to invest on the motor-kit. Does anyone have a road or gravel bike conversion with drop bars like this specialized AWOL that John built:
What sort of speeds do you get on average? Does anyone have a guess on what sort of speeds I'll get with the upgrade to mid-drive on a semi-lighter weight bike
Commute:
Current ebike setup
-~22 mile
-~1500 ft elevation gain each way
-~225lb (plus my clothes/lunch/laptop)
-bike: rad rover(750W Max hub-drive) with highest PAS and cranking pretty hard.
-average ~21 mph
Previous Road-bike setup
-Fuji Roubaix or Giant OCR1
-weighed ~210lb 😪 plus backpack
-average ~15mph
Thanks!!!!
