So my Kent Trouvaille has proven to be a challenge from the start. I bought the largest battery with my 750W kit thinking "I want big!" Well, it "fits" but only if you never remove the battery. So I'm awaiting the arrival of a smaller battery that I believe will fit. I don't believe the bottle cage mounts will suffice for my bike due to the positioning. So I am expecting to need to use rivnuts to mount and frankly, I think I want to anyway as I want to have all four mounting points to ensure it is strong and sturdy. This is an aluminum frame bike so I wonder if I should use aluminum rivnuts or stainless steel? I have in my head a nightmare scenario where the steel would hold but the frame would give way as it is softer material. And if I go aluminum, I worry about the strength of the rivnuts. Given that I intend to use four mount points rather than two, I hope in either case, the load would be better distributed. What are the thoughts and experiences of others here with the use of rivnuts on a bike frame?
