I'm thinking to do an eBike conversion using a Trek Soho as the donor bike. This model has a Shimano 8 speed internal gear hub and belt drive. Are there center drive systems available which are compatible with my existing (belt) drive sproket? I'd like to be able to commute in the city on this bike. I live in Toluca Mexico where there aren't always bike lanes available and flowing with traffic at 30 mph or more would be a great plus.

Also I'm a bit concerned about the brakes on this bike, which are internal Shimano hub brakes, and not the greatest stopping power. I guess I'm stuck with the back break, but does anyone have a good recommendation for a good and powerful front brake replacement?
