Getting ready to jump...

Hi Gang, Setting up to do a HD conversion with 52v battery. Looking for input on the bike to use. Looking at Giant and/or Trek as my base. Kinda like the Trek Sport 3 Version 4 as I am looking for a bike that can be used on road and for light trails. Additionally, I believe the components are decent quality. The low end of the higher end components. If anyone has experience with this bike as far as converting or if anyone has similar style hybrid conversion experience and suggestions please feel free to shout out. Also there has been a lot of talk concerning battery fire issues with a number of products coming out of China. Does anyone know the battery certifications of the batteries being sent with the Bafang kits? Another option I am considering is getting the drive and other components separately, and buying an Bosh battery separately given they are UL Certified if I am correct.

Thanks Much For Any Input You Folks Can Provide,

Greg S.

So in my recent bike buying craze a picked up a 2005 full suspension Rocky Mountain Element 30…it has decent tunable full suspension, 26” wheels and weighs about 30 pounds as is…it also has nice hydraulic brakes. This is the next bike I plan to electrify…but from what I have learned from my Stephenwolff I plan to do it with a smaller mid drive motor and a smaller battery that is either hung from the seatpost or down on the lower frame tube if I can figure that out…based on what I have read this would add less than 15 pounds to the bike...probably about 12 pounds…I will update this when that happens. Currently it’s not easy to find the Toshkeng mid drive motor in stock but I will work on that.
