New Build

I would like to put a bbs02 and saddle bag 52v 50 amp 10ah battery on a 2023 Specialized Rockhopper. The frame is small and will not fit a battery in the triangle. Bike has 27.5 inch tires and 10 speed 1x drivetrain. I may need shorter crank arms. I am worried about chainline issues. I will need a smallish chainring (36 - 42 teeth) as I live among some steep hills. I understand now why you don't see many standard small framed ebikes for sale. Is this a doable build? Should I consult Johnny? Thanks for any advise.

Are you sure? Glancing at a pic, it looks like enough room to me. One other alternative is to use the top bar and mount the battery kinda like a gas tank on a motorbike. Best to have the weight low but I used the crossbar on my older Trek and it works fine. I don't do technical (DH) riding, though.
