Can it be done/should it?

Hey All,

I have I bike I purchased new from my local bike store back in 1996. The bike needs some work so I was toying around with the purchase of an e-bike. Since finding Johnny's content on YouTube, I'd so much rather upgrade my existing bike. I was wanting to do something like the Bafang 750 mid drive. Prior to any unfitting, my current bike needs some repairs (Brakes, gears are worn/shift levers). The frame is solid and has never been damaged/repaired.

Option 2 would be to find a newer used bike and perform the upgrade.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

It ALL depends on what you have. Rokshock forks are okay but do they have tabs for converting to disc brakes? I ca't see if they do in this pic. With the motor you are considering, you really should upgrade your stopping ability. Especially on the front.

Is the transmission of decent quality? Google will tell you what level of quality your derailleurs and shifters are.

You will need new wheels to mount discs. I have been lucky on the used market around here but I don't know about where you reside.

These things (and more) can add up. But there is a lot of satisfaction to be had from building a bike to fit YOU.
