I'm not sure if this will help, but try going into your Display settings and set your Protocol to "Auto" and then try to connect. I was getting read errors when I started mine up for the first time, but I don't remember if the code was the same as the one you received. Anyway for me, I changed the protocol to Bafang as part of the start up process before I tried to connect and I kept getting read errors. When I switched it to "auto" it worked no problem. Plus the Protocol was changed by the controller from Auto To Bafang automatically after the first connection. I haven't had any issues since.
