Concerning event

I am installing a BBSHD WITH A 52V 14AH battery from EUNORAU-EBIKES. I am 75% done with the installation. today I was going to connect the battery to the main power to the motor.( dumb Idea,) but with the battery sitting on the base, I first connected the Black Ground wires and the the Red but when I connected the (Hot) Red I got a pretty hot spark... there were no other wires connected to anything.. my thinking is that all circuits should have been open and there shouldn't have been a spark. I did not leave it connected. If I am correct this should drain the battery or overheat the wires if not damage the internal circuits.. Has anyone experienced this? Should I or Shouldn't I worry about this?

spark here n there is a common issue, dont worry about it. try to disconnect black first and connect red first
